33rd Brigade Combat Team at NASCAR

This week we have the NASCAR race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. The Busch race on Saturday will have a car designed for our Brigade in the area. It will be driven by Casey Mears who drives the National Guard sponsored car during the Winston Cup race on Saturday.

They never did anything like that when we were the 33d. Sure, take our number, our lineage and now our car!

I joined the 33d when it was an SIB.

Do you know why they use a golden cross? Forget what the official verbiage says.

In WWI when they formed into the 33d ID they needed a symbol to mark all their stuff for when they deployed to France. A yellow "X" was the brightest and simplest thing they could think of.
